Frozen 2 is now in theaters and we had the opportunity to see it this weekend, thanks to Allied Philly for this sponsored post.

We have been eagerly waiting for months for this sequel.  Years even.  My oldest daughter was in preschool when the first Frozen debuted.  My youngest didn't have the opportunity to see Frozen in theaters, but she also quickly became Frozen obsessed.

Was Frozen 2 worth the wait?

Frozen 2 was definitely worth the wait.  Both of my girls absolutely without a doubt loved it.  My husband and I even loved it.

As with any sequel, it is super hard to top the first film.  Frozen had so many great songs and a wonderful story line.  Frozen 2 also has some great songs, maybe not to the extent that the first Frozen did, but Idina Menzel knocks it out of the park with "Into the Unknown."  The Panic at the Disco version at the end of the film is incredible too.  I cannot believe any human can hit those notes; totally unreal.

The plot line shows just how strong Ana and Elsa's connection is as sisters Elsa discovers the origin of her powers.  I won't give any spoilers, but there are some surprises that you might not have expected.  Some reviewers have stated that this plot is darker and intense for younger kids.  I didn't find it to be as dark as people made it out to be.  There were some emotionally charged moments, but nothing that scared my five year old.

You'll meet some new characters that are human and some that are animals.  The animal characters steal the scenes.  Olaf is just as lovable and funny as always.  There are some cheesy moments, including a hilariously cheesy 80's ballad that my husband and I couldn't help but laugh about.

While I didn't quite connect with the spiritualism in the film, it does emphasize the importance of caring for other people, animals, and the earth.  There are also great themes of friendship, family bonds, strength, persistence, and taking that next step when things are hard overwhelming ("Do the Next Right Thing").

If you're a Frozen fan,  you should definitely see Frozen 2.  Did it top the original Frozen?  No, but it is still a worthy sequel.
