Thank you to Allied IM Philly for tickets to see Toy Story 4.  All opinions are mine.

The Toy Story franchise has been a part of my parenting journey for the last seventeen years.  My son was the first to become obsessed; his favorite was Buzz Lightyear.  He begged for a Toy Story themed room so we painted the walls blue with a Buzz Lightyear border, a rocketship mirror, a matching bed set with curtains, and glow in the dark stars.

AK became obsessed with Jessie and Bullseye.  I remember going to the Disney outlet to find her a Jessie doll just like the movie with the pullstring.  AB also loves Jessie, but after seeing the latest film, Toy Story 4, she fell in love with Bo Peep, Forky, Ducky and Bunny.  She has even requested a Toy Story 4 birthday party.

Going into Toy Story 4, I wasn't sure what to expect.  After Toy Story 3 {and sobbing my eyes out over Andy going away to college}, I thought the story was complete.  But I went into the theater with hope and excitement to see what Disney came up with next.

What can I say about Toy Story 4?

Toy Story 4
NEW FRIEND! – In Disney and Pixar’s “Toy Story 4,” Bonnie makes a new friend in kindergarten orientation—literally. When Forky—Bonnie’s craft-project-turned-toydeclares himself trash and not a toy, Woody takes it upon himself to show Forky why he should embrace being a toy. Featuring the voices of Tony Hale and Tom Hanks as Forky and Woody, “Toy Story 4” opens in U.S. theaters on June 21, 2019.

It was funny, well-crafted, and the new toys are {with the exception of the dummy dolls} darling.  Forky is hilarious and really stole the show.   The creepy looking dummy dolls weren't as scary as I thought they would be.   Mind you, they are still creepy and may scare young toddlers.  My four year old didn't even have to hide her eyes. The Gabby Gabby doll reminds me a lot of the doll my mom always talked about growing up named Chatty Cathy.

Duke Caboom, voiced by Keanu Reeves, was also pretty funny.  Every time I saw him on screen and heard him speak, I was taken back to the early 90's to Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure.  I love me some Keanu.

CLOSE QUARTERS – In Disney and Pixar’s “Toy Story 4,” Bo Peep takes Woody to a secret hangout within the antique store—the inside of a vintage pinball machine—where a lot of toys go to socialize. Featuring Annie Potts and Tom Hanks as the voices of Bo and Woody, “Toy Story 4” opens in U.S. theaters on June 21, 2019.

Was it Family-Friendly?

Yes, I didn't notice any issues with language or violence.  The dummy dolls are creepy and may frighten the younger kids, but my four year old was not as scared as I anticipated.

Will I need Tissues?

It depends.  I expected to see more of Bonnie going to Kindergarten and needing to bawl my eyes out.  But I didn't.  It was a bit of an emotional ending, so you can bring tissues if you think you'll need them.

Will there be another Toy Story movie?

I don't know.  But I hope so!

My family loved every minute and we left the theater wanting more.  Toy Story 4 is definitely a movie you should see in theaters if you can.  I already know we're going to buy the blu-ray and watch it a gazillion times, it's that good.

ABOUT “TOY STORY 4”:
Woody (voice of Tom Hanks) has always been confident about his place in the world, and that his priority is taking care of his kid, whether that’s Andy or Bonnie. So, when Bonnie’s beloved new craft-project-turned-toy, Forky (voice of Tony Hale), declares himself as “trash” and not a toy, Woody takes it upon himself to show Forky why he should embrace being a toy. But when Bonnie takes the whole gang on her family’s road trip excursion, Woody ends up on an unexpected detour that includes a reunion with his long-lost friend Bo Peep (voice of Annie Potts). After years of being on her own, Bo’s adventurous spirit and life on the road belie her delicate porcelain exterior. As Woody and Bo realize they’re worlds apart when it comes to life as a toy, they soon come to find that’s the least of their worries. Directed by Josh Cooley (“Riley’s First Date?”), and produced by Mark Nielsen (associate producer “Inside Out”) and Jonas Rivera (“Inside Out,” “Up”), Disney and Pixar’s “Toy Story 4” ventures to U.S. theaters on June 21, 2019.
