One of our favorite holiday traditions is watching Christmas movies all snuggled up on the couch. We have many favorites that we watch over and over again. The Christmas Chronicles, a new Christmas movie coming to Netflix Nov. 22nd, has been added to our favorite holiday movie list.

The Christmas Chronicles is a wishful, hilarious, family festive adventure. This is our first live action family film with a well established director and big profile actor in Kurt Russell.
From producer Chris Columbus (“Home Alone”, "Harry Potter") and director Clay Kaytis ("The Angry Birds Movie"), The Christmas Chronicles, tells the story of sister and brother, Kate (Darby Camp) and Teddy Pierce (Judah Lewis), whose Christmas Eve plan to catch Santa Claus (Kurt Russell) on camera turns into an unexpected journey that most kids could only dream about. After staking out Santa’s arrival, they sneak into his sleigh, cause it to crash and nearly derail Christmas. As their wild night unfolds, Kate and Teddy work together with Santa - as you've never seen him before - and his loyal Elves to save Christmas before it's too late. The Christmas Chronicles premieres on Netflix, November 22, 2018!
I don't want to give any big spoilers here, but I will warn you, the film deals with the children's loss of a parent. If this is a sensitive topic for your kids, you may want to watch the film with them so they can process those feelings. {The holiday season is definitely a hard time to deal with the loss of a loved one!} While The Christmas Chronicles deals with loss, it also has some light hearted adventure. There are elves, reindeer, and all of the things you expect to see in a classic Christmas movie. I've been a fan of Kurt Russell ever since I was a kid. I loved seeing him in the role of Santa Claus! He was lovable, funny, and a fresh take on Santa's perspective at Christmas. Definitely a "hip" Santa.
There is a little bit of language in the movie, if you have young children. Other than that, there is nothing scary or inappropriate for little ones. It kept my four year old's attention the whole time!
We really enjoyed The Christmas Chronicles, and think your family will too.
Thanks to Netflix for sending us a fun gift box with some cozy Christmas socks and a light-up ornament to enjoy the film together and put us in the holiday spirit!
