I recently had the honor of participating in a phone teleconference with two of the stars of the film, Zane Austin and Francesca Capaldi. Scroll down to hear what they had to say.

Max 2: White House Hero |
Francesca Capaldi Bio:
Known for her starring role as Chloe James in Disney’s
hit series Dog with a Blog, Francesca Capaldi has worked consistently in
the industry since age four. After booking dozens of national commercials and
guest-starring on shows such as A.N.T. Farm and How I Met Your Mother,
Francesca stepped into the spotlight and garnered the adoration of millions of
fans by landing one of the leads on Disney’s wildly popular show. She soon
became one of the breakout faces of the channel and also guest starred on their
hit show Jessie. She also did an episode on the new show Mack and Moxy; a children's education show that focuses
on causes. Francesca has starred
in two motion picture movies, The Dog Who Saved Summer and 3 Day Test. You can
also hear her as the voice of Little Red-Haired Girl in the full length feature,
The Peanuts Movie. In January, Francesca was also named the new face of
Claire’s Stores Tween line and is still collaborating with Claire’s.
Zane Austin Bio:
Zane Austin
is a California native, having spent all of his 12 years in the Los Angeles
suburb of Thousand Oaks. Growing up, Zane always gravitated towards
performing: each year doing a lead role in his grandmothers original holiday
plays and school plays and twice, winning the Performing Artist Award at
school. But it was when he was 8 years old, that Zane called a
conference with his mom and dad, letting them know he wanted to be an actor.
His Dad, a professional musician, was no stranger to show business, and he
wanted to be sure that this was a serious passion before allowing his son to
pursue it. Zane never waivered in his desire to do film and TV and
after reminding his parents for 8 months that he wanted to be an actor, they
helped him find an LA agent and manager. He wasted no time in booking-
landing a Roundtable Pizza commercial almost immediately and many other
national commercials followed. Soon his dream came true and he snagged the lead
in Max 2, his first feature film.
When he is not acting, Zane enjoys playing All-Star baseball, golf
and soccer, doing parkour and he loves hanging out with his goldendoodle puppy,
Wilson.
Q&A:
(paraphrasing from my notes)
How fun/difficult was it to work with Max?
Z & F: There were four dogs that played Max: Dude, Jagger, Carlos & Pax. Dude was the stunt dog, Carlos was the face of the movie, Pax did the action; swimming and running.
Who was your favorite?
F: Jagger is loving and gives kisses and is so sweet!
Z: Jagger, he instantly came up to me. I loved him at first sight!
What attracted you to the role?
Z: I saw the first movie and loved it and wanted to be a part of it. Once I heard that I was auditioning for the role, I told my mom and dad "I just know I'm going to get this role."
F: I went to the premiere of the first movie and thought it was great! I am so excited to be a part of the movie and work with the dogs and have fun with a Russian accent.
Do you go to school in a classroom or have a tutor?
F: I go to a public charter school M-T and Friday is a home school day.
Z: I go to school five days a week until noon, then I home school in case of auditions or jobs.
Was this your first time working with animals?
F: No, I worked on Dog with a Blog for three years and on the Peanuts Movie. Plus I have done some commercials with dogs.
Z: No, I have done a commercial with a dog plus I have a dog at home.
Did you have special training sessions with the dogs?
Z: I met them before in LA and worked with each of the dog trainers so the dogs could get to know my voice.
F: I went to a warehouse training with the dogs so they could get used to me before the set.
Do you have a pet at home?
Z: Yes, I have a Goldendoodle named Wilson.
F: No, but I want a malti-poo
Where do you see yourself in 5-10 years?
Z: I really want to work with Steven Spielberg, that's been my dream. I would also like to work with Chris Pratt and Leonardo DiCaprio.
F: I love Spielberg! I would love to work with Meryl Streep who is an inspiration to me and Emma Stone; she's an amazing actor.
Where will we see you next?
Z: I am doing commercials; one with Amy Schumer and Old Navy.
F: I will be doing more modeling, singing, auditions and going to school.
