Hearts For Hearts Girls Dolls Are Back This Holiday Season @HFHGirls #HolidayGiftGuide #ad #Giveaway #HeartsforHeartsGirls

11/15/16
I received a Hearts for Hearts Girls doll for review.  Are opinions are mine.

Do you remember Hearts for Hearts Girls dolls from a few years back?  I was sad when I heard that they were being discontinued and no longer sold at Target.  We reviewed Hearts for Hearts Girls Consuelo in our 2013 Holiday Gift Guide and I was really impressed.  There are lots of dolls out there, but not many that are culturally diverse and representing other countries.  I am so excited to tell you that these dolls are back this holiday season!

Hearts for Hearts Girls are 14 inch dolls that
have their own story about how they positively impact their community and empower girls to become agents of change.  So far there are 10 dolls, each from different countries:

Dell - USA Appalachia
Nahji - India
Consuelo - Mexico
Rahel - Ethiopia
Lilian - Belarus
Zelia - Brazil
Tipi - Laos
Lauryce - USA New Orleans
Mosi - USA Native American
Shola - Afghanistan

Each doll has a story about overcoming adversity in their life and ideas for how to improve living conditions in their community.  Their outfits reflect their region of the world.  The dolls are being designed by the same original design team, but are now being sold online on Amazon and in specialty doll and toy stores.

Hearts for Hearts Girls are currently re-launching 4 dolls available for pre-order through Nov. 20thNahji, Rahel, Dell and Counsuelo.  The rest of the dolls will release later in 2017.

AK was excited to choose 10 year old Nahji from Assam, India because one of her best friends is from India and she wants to learn more about the country and culture.

The box has an open flap so that you can see the doll and some information about her story.  Her accessories include: a comb, small elastic hair band, a small book with her story, and a bracelet for your child to wear.

The book explains how Nahji's mother married at age 13 and never went to school.  Nahji convinces her parents that she should go to to school while raising Runner ducks to sell eggs and ducks to contribute to her family.

My daughter was fascinated with Nahji's story and couldn't believe that Nahji had to work and go to school at the same time.  She also learned quite a bit about henna {mehndi} and why they wear it in Indian culture (for good luck).  AK is almost six and doesn't quite know where different countries are on the map, but she got the idea of how far away India is from the US.  The book opens up some great discussions and is a great learning tool (I love toys that are also educational!).

Another learning tool is the new Hearts for Hearts Girls website.  You can find background about each of the dolls (the 4 currently re-launching) as well as diary entries that give that girl's point of view.  New games will be coming soon, which my daughter is really excited about!

Nahji has gorgeous features including long dark rooted hair, big brown eyes with amber tones, a nose stud, henna on her hand, and detailed clothing.  She wears a fuscia tunic and lavender leggings with matching sandals.  Her accessories include a braided choker, simulated pearl earrings, a matching pearl headband and gold toned bracelets which are all removable.

AK loves that Nahji can stand completely on her own and be put in various poses (and tilt her head).  She also loves that long dark hair!  We've braided it since opening the box to keep it more manageable since it tends to frizz.  The bracelet is a fun accessory for girls to wear too.

She will give hours of imaginative play for children ages 6+.

Hearts for Hearts Girls are unique in that $1 from each doll goes to World Vision, a wonderful charitable organization that supports children across the globe.

Not only will your child receive a gorgeous doll, but they will know that they are making a difference in another child's life too.  Some of that money may go toward malaria nets in Africa, schoolbooks in Asia, or food supplies within the US to help children thrive and succeed.

Don't you just love toys that have a positive message and give back?  Hearts for Hearts Girls dolls are truly special and will make a great gift this holiday!

Where to Buy:

Hearts for Hearts Girls can be pre-ordered through Nov. 20th on Amazon for $39.99.

  17. My favorite doll from the collection is Shola. To find a doll with a story like hers, with a scarf, with appropriate clothing, it makes such a difference to my daughter. She is very young now, but the pressure begins when they are small, and finding toys, not just dolls, that don't reinforce some sort of 'feminine ideal' can be a challenge. I appreciate that these dolls bring reality and beauty together in a force for good, and allow picky moms like myself to feel comfortable that we are spending our money on a product that makes a real difference.
