Safety 1st UltraMax Air 360 4-in-1 Convertible Car Seat #sponsored #Safety1st

Thank you to Safety 1st for providing me with an UltraMax Air 360 4-in-1 Car Seat for review.  All opinions are my own and you should try out the product for yourself.

One of the most important pieces of equipment you buy for your children is their car seat.  I have had various car seats over the past seventeen years as a mom of three.  The main things that I look for in a car seat are:  safety, comfort, affordability and longevity.

Safety 1st carseats, convertible car seats, car seats for toddlers

I have spent lots of time researching specs and making lists to compare seats in my price range over the years.  Today's technology makes it less intimidating and time consuming, since now they are making seats that can grow with your child.  That means only needing one seat for each stage!  {I wish they had this when my son was born}

I was recently asked to test out the Safety First UltraMax Air 360 4-in-1 car seat.  It can be used from 4 to 120 lbs.  It can be used as a rear facing seat for babies 4 to 22 pounds, an extended rear facing seat for children from 15 to 50 pounds, a forward facing 5- point harness car seat from 22 to 65 pounds, and as a seat belt positioned booster seat from 40 to 120 pounds (and 57 inches tall).  Simply put, this seat is amazing!

As soon as I got it out of the box, I was impressed with the construction of this seat.  Its steel reinforced frame is a bit heavier and wider than I am used to, so my hubby installed it for me.  Installation was fairly easy and didn't take much time at all {especially since hubby is now a seasoned pro at car seat installation}.

Safety 1st, car seats for toddlers, convertible car seats

The heaviness and bulkiness of this seat does make it difficult to take in and out of the car.  If you need a seat that is more transportable between cars {or for field trips} that might be the only down side to this convertible seat.

There were a few simple adjustments in head height and strap height that we made to fit my toddler.  The head rest lifts up and down with one hand and the straps are also easily adjustable.  The seat is deep with lots of padding for comfort.  "Cushy" is the word my five-year-old used to describe it when she tried it out before we put it in the car.  {She's a bit jealous that sissy gets the cushy seat!}

car seats, car seats for toddlers, Safety 1st products

One thing to note: the safety strap pads come off a little too easily; little miss has already taken them off several times since they have small velcro to attach them.  You may just want to remove them altogether if your child keeps playing with them like mine does.

There is a really neat feature with the ClickClean™ seat pad/cover; push a yellow button to lift it off, and voila, you can throw it in the wash.  We haven't had any messy spills yet, but you know how dirty car seats can get.  This is an awesome feature for a busy mom who doesn't want to wrestle her car seat to get the cover off!  It also has two cup holders that are removable and dish washer safe.  AB likes to use it not only for drinks, but for holding her favorite small toys as well.

Safety 1st car seats, car seats for toddlers, car seat covers, click clean

Most importantly, this seat has been tested for safety.   The Safety 1st UltraMax Air 360 car seat has 360 Protect™ for 6 layers of proven safety. These seats go through rigorous safety testing and are crash tested at every angle. These angles include rollover, front impact, rear impact and side impact testing.  Knowing that my precious cargo is protected from every angle definitely puts my mind at ease!

Safety Features
car seats

The only 4-in-1 convertible car seat that features 360 Protect™ for 6 layers of proven safety:

  • Air Protect® for superior side impact protection
  • G-Cell™ HX energy absorbing foam, the same technology used in race cars
  • Steel reinforced frame for additional stability
  • Motion control headrest contains movement
  • Deep seat structure for shielding the child
  • Soft foam throughout the seat for additional safety and comfort
  • Car seats with Safety 1st’s Air Protect Technology are safer*.
  • Air Protect technology is proven to help keep children safer in the event of a side impact crash.
*Based on testing Safety 1st seats with and without Air Protect.

While the cost might seem a bit daunting at first, the longevity of this seat is well worth the investment.  We are very happy with the design, safety, and features of the UltraMax 360!

When Calls the Heart: Heart of a Hero @wcth_tv #Hearties #Sponsored

Thank you to Edify Media for giving me a review copy of When Calls the Heart: Heart of a Hero. This post contains affiliate links.

We're eagerly waiting for When Calls the Heart season 4 to arrive on the Hallmark Channel.  In the meantime, you can watch season 3 all over again on DVD. The third DVD for season 3, When Calls The Heart:  Heart of a Hero, is now available.

When Calls the Heart, Hallmark Channel, Hallmark series, daniel lissing, erin krakow

In case you need to catch up, here are the DVD's in order:

When Calls The Heart: It Begins With Heart
When Calls The Heart:  Troubled Hearts
When Calls The Heart: Heart of a Hero
When Calls The Heart: Forever in My Heart
When Calls The Heart:  Hearts in Question

Synopsis:

New arrivals bring excitement, love and danger to Hope Valley. Pastor Frank has been reinstated following the revelation of his criminal past, but the arrival of his old cohorts, the Garrison Gang, are making life - and his relationship with Abigail-very tense. Bill Avery has his own debt to settle with Jake Garrison, and Jack intends to stay Bill's hand from killing the man. Meanwhile, Lee's foot injury brings a pretty nurse, Faith Carter from Hamilton... and soon after, her possessive fiancé. And Jack rises to the defense of new settlers on Gowen's land when Gowen abruptly raises their rent.

Things are pretty tense in Heart of a Hero for many people in Hope Valley.  The Garrison Gang brings an element of danger for both Frank and Jesse.  Both have to choose to do the right thing, whether it puts them in more danger or not.  Bill Avery decides to settle the score with Jake Garrison, but Jack intervenes.

The tension eases a bit as conflicts get resolved.  I can't tell you what happens, but you'll find that it comes to a satisfactory ending.

Each episode keeps you wondering what will happen next in this small town!

Thank you to Edify Media for giving me a review copy of When Calls the Heart: Forever In My Heart. This post contains affiliate links.

Missing your favorite Hallmark show When Calls the Heart?  The fourth DVD for season 3, When Calls The Heart:  Forever in My Heart, is now available to binge watch!

When Calls the Heart, Hearties, Hallmark Channel, Hallmark series

(Haven't watched the first two seasons? You can check out episodes from Season 1 and Season 2)

In case you need to catch up on Season 3, here are the DVD's in order:

When Calls The Heart: It Begins With Heart
When Calls The Heart:  Troubled Hearts
When Calls The Heart: Heart of a Hero
When Calls The Heart: Forever in My Heart
When Calls The Heart:  Hearts in Question

Synopsis:

When Cody’s sister, Becky, returns to Hope Valley, she’s in a wheelchair due to her illness. Suspecting that Becky isn’t walking because she’s receiving a lot of attention, Elizabeth encourages her to try harder, both in her efforts to stand and in honing her talent for drawing. All are surprised to meet Carolyn Connors, Cody and Becky’s long-lost, wealthy aunt who wishes to raise them on her own… away from Hope Valley. Meanwhile, Rebecca’s efforts to land a role in a film may catapult her to stardom… and out of the arms of Lee.

One of the things I like about this show is that are all kinds of little twists and turns in each of the characters' lives.  Each episode reveals a little bit more about the people in Hope Valley; sometimes for the better and sometimes for the worst.

Just when you think things are settling down for Abigail and the two kids she wants to adopt, along comes an aunt to throw a wrench in the plans.  Abigail has really become attached to the kids and your heart really goes out to her during this stressful time.

And as far as couples getting together and getting married, well the writers want to keep you on your toes and make you wonder if and when that'll happen.  Jack & Elizabeth are still on the back burner, though Jack is looking at land to purchase.   Rosemary & Lee look like they are heading down the aisle, but a potential movie role could change things.

Melodramatic Rosemary is one of those characters you don't like at first, but she is starting to grow on me.  She makes me laugh at her manipulative ways and theatrics!  Lee sure has his hands full with her, but for some reason they work as a couple.

I'm enjoying re-watching season 3 and can't wait for season 4!

Temporary American Girl Store @kop_mall Now Open #AmericanGirlBrand #sponsored

9/10/16
Thank you to American Girl for the preview tour and gift for my two American Girl fans!  All opinions are mine and you should definitely experience the store for yourself.

This weekend the new temporary American Girl store officially opens at the King of Prussia Mall.  Yesterday we were able to preview the store ahead of this weekend's grand opening celebrations.  The store is located on the upper level of the new expansion area in the mall, just a short walk from Macy's.  It will be here through January 2017 and we are so excited to have a store so close for the holiday season!

If you're heading there this weekend, the grand opening hours are  Sat 10AM-9PM and on Sunday 11AM-6PM.   There will be a craft activity, photo opps, a drawing to win Lea the American Girl of the Year, and a free gift while supplies last.  Be sure to get there early, at least an hour before opening, to get in line for your ticket to enter.  Tickets are being handed out to make things run smoothly so more people can enjoy the store on a busy opening weekend.

My girls couldn't have been more excited to see the store for the first time.  It was like being in a candy store with so many things to see and try out!

Though it is a smaller space, there is a great selection of dolls for kids of all ages!  There are Bitty Babies and Wellie Wishers for the younger age group from 1-5 years old.

Bitty Baby, American Girl dolls

My girls love Bitty Baby {and Bitty Twins, so sad they are retiring} already, but fell in love with the adorable Wellie Wishers at first sight.  They are so much cuter in person and we love all of the details from their clothing, pets and accessories to their little wellies {boots}.  The playhouse was their absolute favorite; they could have stayed and played for hours.

They also have a great assortment for older girls with the Truly Me dolls that look like you, Lea the Girl of the Year, and the Be Forever Historical line.

We saw the new historical doll Melody from the 1960's and of course AK fell in love with her!    She has some beautiful clothing and accessories from the 60's era.   The historical dolls are my personal favorites because of their inspiring stories and great lessons from history that girls can learn from them.    AK would have run right out of the store with Melody, as you can see from that mischievous grin.  We have a huge wish list for Santa this year!

The store offers a doll salon too so your favorite friend can get all "dolled up" with fun hairstyles, ear piercing, and nail polish.  Appointments can be made in the store when you visit.  This is at the top of our to-do list for next time!

American Girl dolls, doll styles, doll hair salon

The store really has a lot to offer for girls of all ages {and their moms} so you can have a taste of that American Girl magic this holiday season.  We can't wait to go back and browse when we have more time and don't have to rush off to Kindergarten!

For more info. about the new store, you can visit the American Girl website.

Family Fun At Strasburg Railroad's #DayOutWithThomas #sponsored

9/7/16
I received tickets to Day Out with Thomas at Strasburg Railroad for review.  All opinions are my own.

Both of my girls love Thomas the Tank Engine.  They have watched Thomas & Friends on PBS a gazillion times (no exaggeration) and I can probably sing the theme song in my sleep.  We have a train table with a small take-along set that I found thrifting that gets played with on a daily basis.  And we have been to Day Out with Thomas at the B&O Railroad in Baltimore with my oldest.  This past weekend we made our first trip as a family of four to see Thomas & Percy at Strasburg Railroad in Ronks, PA.

Strasburg Railroad

Our train ride time was 10:45 AM so we arrived at a little before 10 to find parking and take in the layout before our ride.  Parking is free and if you can't find a space in the paved lot, there are plenty of spaces in the field adjacent to the station (it's a short walk but we found out an umbrella stroller doesn't handle the field very well).

Day Out with Thomas, Strasburg Railroad

Thomas departs every half hour during the designated times.  While he's pulled into the station for his breaks, you can get your photo taken with him (either before or after your ride).  They have photographers who will take your photo and you can take your own {Percy is an add-on to your ticket and a shorter 12 minute ride}.

Thomas the Train
Thomas the Tank, Thomas, Strasburg Railroad

My girls were so excited to see Thomas up close!  He moves his eyes and mouth and he even talks when pulling in and out of the station.  I loved seeing their eyes light up when they saw him!

There is a designated area with a digital clock so you know when they are boarding for your train time.  I suggest you get in line about 15 minutes before your ticket time if you want to be at the front part of the line and choose your train car.  We sat in one of the front trains.  The ride on Thomas was about 20 minutes with scenic views of farms nearby.

A conductor visits everyone on the train during your ride.  It was different than we were used to at B&O RR; the conductor does not punch your ticket or give you a certificate on the ride {you need to see Sir Topham Hat to get your Junior Engineer certificate}.  But they are friendly and spend time talking with you.

The train cars are very detailed and the seats are comfortable.  You can also adjust your seat to flip sides so that you don't have to sit going backwards.  The windows are open to let air flow through; thankfully it wasn't a super hot day.

train rides, Pennyslvania attractions, things to do with kids in PA

After our Thomas ride, we decided to do a couple of activities to let the girls stretch their legs a bit.  There are large white tents with an Imagination Station (train tables play area, video viewing etc), Thomas mini power wheels, coloring, musical entertainment, souvenir shopping, temporary tatoos, area to visit with Sir Topham Hat, and food {you can also pack your own picnic lunch}.

Strasburg Railroad

We found Platform 9 and 3/4 when we were walking over to the tents!

Sir Topham hat was in a closed off area next to the souvenir shop and we almost missed it.  We hit it at a great time where there was hardly a line.  Both girls were happy to see him {yay for no tears!} and AK gave him a high five.

Sir Topham Hat, Thomas the Train, Strasburg Railroad

The mini Thomas train power wheels were a big hit!  My girls would have stayed and ridden them forever, but it was pretty hot under the tent.

Some of the other activities were outdoors like the kid-powered crank cars and Pint-sized Pufferbelly train ride.  The girls loved these too!

A video posted by shelly (@theatticgirl) on

An added bonus to our day was a train ride with Percy.  They loved him just as much as Thomas!  It was probably a good thing that this ride was shorter, since my girls were starting to get tired and cranky as the day went on.  {The crowd was also getting larger since it was a holiday weekend, so maneuvering with cranky little ones was getting more difficult.}

Percy, trains, Strasburg Railroad

The cost of your ticket is well worth all the included activities.  You can also save money as a family by bringing your own lunch for a picnic {we brought our own food since my youngest has food allergies}.  We had a lot of fun at Strasburg Railroad and my girls are already asking to go back when Thomas returns in November {18-20}

Tickets for Day Out with Thomas: Ready, Set, Go Tour. are on sale now and available by visiting www.ticketweb.com/dowt or www.strasburgrailroad.com/train-schedule/events/day-out-with-thomas
