Office Depot Foundation National Backpack Program @officedepot #sponsored #ODFcares #backtoschool

I received Office Depot sackpacks in exchange for my honest review.  All opinions are my own.

It's Back to School season again and this year we are hitting a very important milestone.  AK is heading to Kindergarten!

Yes, there will be tears.  Mostly from me.  She will probably be thrilled to be hanging out with other kids and having new experiences.  It won't be such a huge adjustment since she will be only have a half-day program.  But it is still a huge milestone!  And we are totally ready (I hope!) for what the school year may bring.

Back to school shopping has been fun for us. She has enjoyed picking out new outfits for school.  There have been several fashion shows at home {and twirling, lots of twirling}.  And I love picking out new school supplies and helping her choose her favorite character backpack.

Speaking of those all important school supplies, did you know that the Office Depot Foundation has an award-winning National Backpack Program?

Since 2001, Office Depot and the Office Depot Foundation has given away more than 4 million backpacks and sackpacks.   This year they will be donating 200,000 new sackpacks to nonprofit organizations, schools and agencies across the US and internationally.  Isn't that amazing?  I love that they support education!

“We believe that every child should have the opportunity to go to school with dignity and hope,” says Office Depot Foundation President Mary Wong.  “For most children, the first day of school is an exciting time complete with new clothes and back-to-school gear.  But for kids in families where money is tight, the experience can be just the opposite.  The sackpacks and school supplies we donate help to level the playing field and give these wonderful children a reason to stand just a little bit taller.”

To deliver sackpacks directly to children, the Foundation is hosting Back-to-School Celebrations in select cities across the U.S. in July and August

Thousands more sackpacks are being given to kids through the Office Depot Foundation’s continuing partnerships with a number of nonprofit organizations serving children nationally and globally. The Foundation is collaborating with the AARP Experience Corps, the National Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) Association, Feed the Children, Food For The Poor, the Kids In Need Foundation, the National Foundation for Women Legislators, Operation Homefront and Samaritan’s Feet International. And for the eighth consecutive year, children of the Navajo Nation in Arizona will receive sackpacks.

These specially designed, drawstring-style sackpacks come in 7 bright and fun designs!  Each one includes a zippered pouch containing a pen, pencil, pencil sharpener, eraser, six-inch ruler, and four crayons.  {The sackpacks do not have any Office Depot Foundation or Office Depot logos or markings other than a removable tag.}

AK likes the pink camouflage.   My personal favorite is the building bricks.  It's a great size for kindergarten; it's large enough to hold the take-home folder and supplies.   I like that they are water-resistant and lined yet still light-weight to carry.

We were given sackpacks to donate in our own community as well.  I love that this program is helping so many children receive essential supplies to get them off to a great start this school year!
