My Noah's Ark Storybook Precious Moments #sponsored #tommymommy

3/31/16
I received a copy of Precious Moments My Noah's Ark Storybook for review.  All opinions are my own.

My preschooler is learning more about Bible Stories from the Old Testament.  Noah's Ark is one of her favorites because it talks about animals and rainbows. But most importantly it reminds her of God's faithfulness.

We recently started reading Precious Moments My Noah's Ark Storybook by Jean Fischer.    It takes the story of Noah from Genesis and breaks it down into smaller pieces so you can read daily or choose as many pages as you want.

Precious Moments My Noah's Ark Storybook

I love the soft illustrations in this padded board book; Precious Moments are my favorite!  They are endearing and both my preschooler and my toddler enjoy them.

There are questions you can ask your little one on some of the pages, as well as songs you can sing together to reinforce the passages.  There is also a prayer at the end reinforcing the theme that “God is with you all the time, and He will take care of you.”

This makes a great gift for little ones ages 1-5!

We Took a #FamilyRoadChip @fheinsiders @foxhomeent #sponsored #AlvinInsiders

3/23/16
I received an Alvin & The Chipmunks The Road Chip road trip pack as a Fox Home Insider.  All opinions and love for Alvin are my own.

It's hard to believe, but Spring Break is here!  Though the weather hasn't felt quite spring like.  It was cold and wet (and even some snow) this past weekend for our #FamilyRoadChip celebrating Alvin & The Chipmunks: The Road Chip's release on Blu-ray.

Family Road Chip

The road chip pack had some pretty cool stuff including drawstring backpacks, ear buds, luggage tags, stickers, activity pages, a Road Chip sign and of course Alvin!

We decided to take advantage of some Target sales and brought the girls' new buddy Alvin along with us.

Family Road CHip

Family Road Chip

Alvin helped pick out some much-needed new shoes for AB.  He even chose her favorite color!

Family Road CHip

There was lots of Easter candy to choose from in the aisles.  Alvin made a little mischief and tried to throw some peanut butter Easter bunnies in the cart.  Silly Alvin!  AB is allergic to peanut butter.

Family Road Chip

The wet weather foiled our original plans, so we took Alvin to a family fun center for a little bowling.  We soon learned that they don't make snazzy bowling shoes in chipmunk size.  Poor Alvin!

Family Road Chip

Alvin needed a little help with the ball, but he did pretty well!

Family Road Chip

AK even got a spare.  She celebrated with her buddy.  Alvin shared in the glory on AK's daddy's spare too.  They had a lot of fun with these screenshots!

Family Road CHip

As usual, Alvin made a little mischief at the family fun center.  He even met a pirate!

Family Road Chip

I'm not sure who had more fun on our #FamilyRoadChip; AK or Alvin.  I think it's a toss up!

Alvin & The Chipmunks The Road Chip

Don't forget to stop by our giveaway for Alvin & The Chipmunks: The Road Trip on Blu-ray.  You can download some fun printables for those rainy spring break days too. Hurry, it ends March 28th!

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 Blu-ray #sponsored #MockingjayPart2 #TheHungerGames

3/22/16
I received a copy of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 for review.  All opinions are my own.

The Hunger Games Mockingjay Part 2

The Hunger Games: Mockinjay Part 2 arrives on Blu-ray Combo pack today March 22nd.  If you're a fan of the series, you've probably been counting down to see the exciting conclusion!

With $647 million worldwide box office and counting, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2 set the world on fire and enthralled millions of devoted fans across the globe. With a critically acclaimed cast including Academy Award® winner Jennifer Lawrence (Best Actress, Silver Linings Playbook, 2012), Josh Hutcherson (Journey to the Center of the Earth), Liam Hemsworth (The Expendables), Academy Award® nominee Woody Harrelson (Best Actor, The People vs. Larry Flynt, 1996), Emmy® nominee Elizabeth Banks (TV’s “Modern Family”), Academy Award® winner Julianne Moore (Best Actress, Still Alice, 2014), Academy Award® winner Philip Seymour Hoffman (Best Actor, Capote, 2005), Golden Globe® winner Jeffrey Wright (HBO’s “Angels in America”), with Academy Award® nominee Stanley Tucci (Best Supporting Actor, The Lovely Bones, 2009), and Golden Globe® winner Donald Sutherland (Citizen X), The Hunger Games franchise is a worldwide phenomenon earning over $2.9 billion at the box office worldwide.

Jennifer Lawrence stars as Katniss Everdeen, who began her journey fighting to survive the brutal Hunger Games, and rose to lead the rebellion against Panem’s tyrannical president (Donald Sutherland). Now, Katniss and a team of rebels from District 13 prepare for the epic battle that will decide Panem’s future.

Based on the third novel in Suzanne Collins’ trilogy, the must-own limited edition Blu-ray release is packed with over five hours of special features, including the “Pawns No More: Making The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2 8-part documentary – an in-depth look at the making of the film from production design, costumes, hair, make-up, stunts, special effects and post production.

The documentary also includes a touching piece – from the last day of shooting – in which the cast reflects on their experience shooting the four films. Also included is a detailed look at Cinna’s sketchbook and a walk through the on-set photography along with audio commentary by director.

I was first introduced to The Hunger Games when my son began reading the book series.  He wanted to see the movie, so I bought the tickets, not really familiar with what it was about.

It was my first time watching a dystopian society, and I have to say I walked out of the theater feeling very disturbed by it.  The whole concept of children being put through "games" by a dictator to keep the peace in their world was something hard to swallow.  And it should be.  It draws light on some very serious topics for young adults.

The Hunger Games Mockingjay Part 2

I've watched all of the movies up to this point and was looking forward to seeing how it all ends.  Katniss is a strong female character who tries to live by a moral compass, but is also faced with some very difficult decisions.  It isn't your usual black or white good vs. evil type story; there are some shades of grey that really cause you to think and will open up some good conversations with your teens.

The Hunger Games Mockingjay Part 2

In The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2, you see Katniss fueling the fire of revolution against the Capital.  Every step of the journey is faced with challenges, including her friend Peeta who has been programmed to kill her.

And just as in the previous films, there is a lot of loss.  This film deals with the horrors of war, and just how far one is willing to go to stop evil.  I don't want to spoil any of the plot for you, but I can tell you that it comes to a satisfying conclusion.

If you're a fan, you'll want to own the final chapter in The Hunger Games franchise!

Also available for the first time as a set on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital HD, The Hunger Games Complete 4-Film Collection includes The Hunger Games, The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2 with all of the special features from each film’s initial release plus hours of all-new exclusive content including 13 never-before-seen deleted scenes from The Hunger Games and The Hunger Games: Catching Fire and two all-new featurettes: “Picturing Panem” and “Capitol Cuisine.”

Have a Peanuts Movie Night @fheinsiders @foxhomeent #sponsored #PeanutsInsiders #PeanutsMovieNight

3/18/16
We received The Peanuts Movie party items as a Fox Insider.  All opinions and The Peanuts Movie love are ours.

If you've been a reader of this blog for a while, you know how much we love family movie night!  I was beyond excited for The Peanuts Movie to release to Blu-ray and DVD.  AK had a daddy/daughter night to see it when it was in theaters, but this was my first time watching.

The Peanuts Movie Family Movie Night

Fox Home Entertainment sent us some incredible goodies (along with The Peanuts Movie special edition set) including Peanuts gang toys, baseballs, a kite, Charlie Brown t-shirts, aviator hats, and some fun snacks from Horizon organic and Pez.  Plus they included some All detergent in case we ended up needing some clean up like Pig Pen!

The Peanuts Movie Family Movie Night

My oldest loves to help in the kitchen, so we decided to make some Peanuts movie inspired treats.  I found lots of ideas on Pinterest and chose Charlie Brown Rice Krispies Treats.  These were simple to make and AK loved helping!  And I found the recipe right on the cereal box so it was easy peasy.

Charlie Brown Rice Krispies Treats

Charlie Brown Rice Krispies Treats

Supplies:

6 cups of Kelloggs Rice Krispies cereal
1 10 oz bag of mini marshmallows
3 tablespoons of Butter/Margarine
1 container of yellow icing
1-2 tubes of black writing gel

1.  Melt the butter/margarine in a large saucepan over low heat.  Add the marshmallows and rice krispies and stir.

2.  Spray a large pan with cooking spray.  Use a spatula to press the mixture into the pan.

3.  Wait for the Rice Krispies treats to cool.  Then spread the yellow icing over evenly.

4.  Cut the treats into squares of desired size.  Use the icing tube to make the chevron pattern across the square.

While we watched The Peanuts Movie, we munched on our snacks and used our fun drinking cups.  The girls tried on their aviator hats too.  AB didn't have a very good nap, so she was not a happy camper (you can see her crocodile tears in the photo).  AK was on the cranky side too, but she cheered up as the sugar kicked in.

The animation in the film was so much better than the Peanuts gang I saw growing up!  Snoopy was just as adorable as ever, if not more endearing.  That laugh just cracks me up!

Charlie Brown & Snoopy The Peanuts Movie

AK said that this was the "best day ever". The Peanuts Movie ranks up there on my list of top family movies to watch!
