Disney Pixar's Inside Out

Do you ever look at someone and wonder what’s going on inside their head? Disney-Pixar’s “Inside Out” takes an exciting and hilarious journey into the mind to find the answer. Based in Headquarters, the control center of 11-year-old Riley’s mind, five emotions are hard at work, led by lighthearted optimist Joy. She strives to make sure Riley stays happy as she operates alongside fellow emotions Fear, Anger, Disgust and Sadness. It’s “an instant classic,” raves Richard Roeper, Chicago Sun-Times. Experience it like never before on Disney Blu-ray!

Disney-Pixar's Inside Out is one of our top Holiday Gift Guide picks this year!   This movie had great timing, since we have just recently moved to a new state and my four year old daughter has many of the same feelings as Riley.  It isn't an easy adjustment to move away from everything familiar; a new house, a new school, or a new job.  It's a lot for an adult to handle, but kids feel the effects of change even more deeply.  AK is not quite able to express everything that she's feeling, but she is learning.  And we are trying to give her some tools to do that.

It was quite an experience to imagine what is going on inside a child's mind, and I think Disney-Pixar hit it out of the park!  (They even picked the brains of mom and dad at times too which was pretty hilarious)  My husband said that I remind him of the Anger character in the movie.  (LOL)

The jokes in this movie might be a little over your kids' heads, but they sure made my hubby and I snort!  There are some very poignant and moving scenes too that might have you tearing up a bit, especially as a parent.  You and your kids will learn a bit more about how your brain works to store memories and how those affect emotions.   Emotions are powerful and complicated and Disney-Pixar handles this with great imagination, sensitivity, and humor!

There are some great messages in this movie for kids:  thinking about feelings and learning to express them, dealing with stress, and how to better communicate between parents and children.  Also, how in life many times there can't be joy without experiencing some sadness too and vice versa.

There are some great bonus features as well, including deleted scenes and two short films:  Riley's First Date? (In-home Exclusive) and LAVA (Theatrical short film).  Riley's first date made us laugh and also get a little scared about that whole puberty thing!  (I don't even want to think about my girls dating yet.)

You can't help but love Inside Out!  It's a movie the whole family can enjoy and would make a great gift!
