Have you seen Penguins of Madagascar yet? It released on DVD March 17th and is a cute movie for the whole family!
Last Friday night we had a Penguins "Chill Out" family movie night thanks to Fox Home Entertainment. I received some fun party items as a Fox Home Insider. All opinions expressed are my own.
Despite the Attic Baby and myself being sick, we put
together some fun snacks that were Penguins themed including cup cakes,
ice cream, and blue jello jigglers. We had this really neat ice cream
maker that I hope to try soon {I used premade icecream since two us were
under the weather} and a cute penguins ice cube tray that I used as a
mold for the jello.
For activities, AK did some coloring pages from the movie. And I had her brother cut out these paper airplanes to play a little game of "hit the target."
AK loves the little wind-up penguins that came with the Blu-ray. She played with those while she was munching.
Then we watched the movie for the first time together. AK cuddled up with her friends Baby Private, Dave, Skipper, "Mutant" Rico and Short Fuse on the couch. {The name "Baby Private" made AK giggle; she thought that was a silly name.} The Attic Baby cuddled up and eventually fell asleep on me.
Penguins of Madagascar has a cute story line: you get to see how the four friends met and stuck together. And this latest mission is quite an adventure! My teen laughed at a lot of the references and AK said that Dave is her favorite character. We highly recommend Penguins of Madagascar for your next family movie night! It's fun for all ages.

Guess who's on the loose and came to our house for some adventures? You guessed it! Dexter from Night at the Museum Secret of the Tomb came all the way to Maryland to hang out with the Attic kids.
Dexter brought his bag, passport, postcards and travel journal to our doorstep. Once he arrived, he made himself at home. He even showed us his latest movie. The Attic Baby couldn't resist letting him sit with her {though we did have to rescue Dexter's tail from her mouth}.
He had some fun adventures throughout the past couple of weeks. He went to AK's dance class and watched ballerinas move like animals. He really enjoyed that.
He went to a special story time at the library and watched a puppet show. Dexter also checked out one of his favorite books about another famous monkey. {Did you know that monkeys like to read too?}
His favorite activity was going to the park. Those monkey bars and pony rides were the best!
Shopping was not his favorite activity, but he was a good sport and tagged along at the store too.
Dexter had so much fun hanging out with us that he's decided to stay. AK and AB are thrilled to make him a part of our family!After all, who doesn't want a monkey for a best friend?
If your kids love Dexter as much as mine do, they can have some fun with him too with the Monkey Cam App.
Monkey Cam App:
If you have kids {or you are just a kid at heart}, you've got to check out Monkey Cam, the
official app celebrating the release of NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM: SECRET OF THE TOMB on Blu-ray, DVD & Digital HD.
This
hilariously fun photo-editing app lets you add static or animated
stickers of Dexter (and other film-inspired elements) to your pictures.
Dexter can be mischievous when he photobombs you and your friends, or
he can lovingly give you hugs and kisses. Either way, everyone will
surely be impressed when they see the moments
you’ve captured with the cheeky Capuchin!
This iOS app is available now FREE in the Apple App Store for iPhone,
iTouch, and iPad.
Can't get enough of that monkey? Check out this fun clip on the set with #CrystalTheMonkey! And don't miss picking up your copy of Night at the Museum Secret of the Tomb out on DVD & Blu-ray today.

I participated in an Influencer Activation on behalf of Influence

gift card to facilitate my review and thank me for my participation.
Spring is nearly here and you know what that means: time to put away that winter wardrobe. When you have kids, it also means going through all of your kids' drawers, hauling those hand-me-down boxes from the closet, and seeing what fits and what doesn't. After hours of weeding out and organizing, inevitably you find that your kids' spring wardrobe is lacking some key pieces and you need to go shopping.
I dread the organizing, but I do love getting my shop on, especially if it means I get to pick out adorable Easter dresses and spring play clothes. Carter's has been a long time favorite in our house when it comes to style and durability. All three of my kids have grown up wearing Carter's, and I love that they have now extended to sizes 7-12! We went to the mall on a rainy day for our first mall shopping trip with two girls in tow. This trip was dedicated to finding clothes for my preschooler, since we still have a lot of baby items from when she was little. And AK was very excited that this was all about her!
The first thing that greeted me was the sign in the window for Doorbusters. {Yes Carter's, you had me at Doorbusters.} This mama loves to save money {and with three kids at home, every penny counts}!
The short-sleeved tees were only $6 each if you bought 2 ($8 each if single), so I allowed AK to choose the tees she liked. One thing that cracked me up was when I showed her a couple of shirts I thought were cute and she said "I don't like THAT one Mommy. It's ugly." She certainly knows her mind. We stocked up on tees and then also grabbed a couple pairs of shorts that were also a doorbuster deal.
Since we're in that in-between weather where it's chilly and other times warm, we also bought some leggings and a hoodie. I love that you can mix and match, especially since she's a smaller size in pants than shirts. {Can you tell that we love the spring greens and blues?}
They have such a great selection in their Easter shop that it was hard to choose an Easter dress. They also have adorable accessories including coordinating shoes, jewelry, bags, and hair bows for family photos and egg hunts.
AK turned down a lot of the ones I chose and ended up picking one we both liked. We can't wait for her and her sister to visit the Easter bunny in her new dress! {And since I was able to get such great deals and also some Carter's rewards, I'm going to go back and get her some cute shoes.} We didn't have a chance to check out their Swim Shop this trip, but Carter's has all the essentials you need including towels, swimwear, accessories, water shoes and flip flops. And right now they are 50% off. You name it, you'll find it at Carter's this spring!
Stock Up and take advantage of those Doorbusters: Shorts & Tees only $6 when you buy 2 (or $8 indiv.) through March 25th!
As if the deals at Carter’s aren't already amazing, they are also giving my readers this 25% off coupon for both instore and
online purchases {not valid on clearance or Door Busters}! Just use the code below or
download your coupon to use in store.
I received a copy of The Berenstain Bears' Country Cookbook for review purposes as well as an appreciation certificate as a Family Christian blogger. All opinions and experience with the book are 100% mine.
I have to admit, I'm not much of a cook. My husband is the chef in the family and I'm all right with that. Even though I don't have great skill in the kitchen, I do encourage my kids to cook with me and my husband so that they can learn and have fun while doing it.
We love the Berenstain Bears and were excited to see so many simple and kid-friendly recipes for breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert {40 in all}. They all have cute names like Bear-y Good Mac and Cheese and Tasty Toboggans. I browsed through all of them with my preschooler {who ooh-ed and ahhh-ed and said "yummy" when looking at the pictures, especially the desserts/snacks} and came across a recipe for Tomato & Bacon Quiche.
Let me be up front with you reader friends. I have never made a quiche before in my life. Nor have I ever eaten quiche.
Crazy idea maybe? But I do like a fun challenge and the recipe looked delicious in the photo. I figured if it didn't turn out right, there was always the option of take-out. So we dove in and gathered all the ingredients. {And we took advantage of the fact that her daddy was home to help} The instructions were very easy to follow. Prep the frozen pie crust. Cook some bacon. Crack some eggs. Measure this. Pour in that. It was so much easier than I thought! {We opted to leave the tomatoes out because I am the only one who likes them}
My 4 year old was able to do most of the tasks and they required very few appliances or gadgets. And she loved being a little chef, holding her cookbook, and pretending to tell us all what needed to be done.
It didn't take a lot of time to put together either. The ingredients were done in about five minutes and the rest of the time was spent cooking the bacon, browning the pie crust before adding the mixture, and then baking. The hardest part for little miss was waiting for 25 minutes to see how her creation turned out.
AK was very proud of herself when we were finished! And guess what? It turned out delicious! It was so delicious in fact, that my teenage son ended up eating several helpings of it and finished off the leftovers the next day. And he's usually pretty picky about trying new foods.
Overall, we give this cookbook two thumbs up!
The book is very organized, has appealing pictures, and even has a section
explaining kitchen measurements. I love how there are little snippets
with the Berenstain Bears woven through the book as well as pictures of
them spending time together as a family. It really encourages families to cook together and makes it simple enough that even not-so-skilled moms like me can have success.
AK can't wait to try out some more recipes!
This book is recommended for kids ages 4+ and their parents.
Where to Buy:
You can preorder the Berenstain Bears' Country Cookbook at familychristian.com for $12.99 {book will release April 4, 2015}
