Operation Christmas Child: It's Time to Pack a Shoebox! #ShoeboxSi

Samaritan's Purse

It's hard to believe that November is already here!   Time flies by quicker than you can blink sometimes.  During this busy month of preparation for Thanksgiving and the upcoming holiday season, have you thought about how you will spread some cheer to someone in need?

Operation Christmas Child is one of my favorite ways to give back and spread God's love to a child who might not otherwise receive gifts at Christmas.

What is Operation Christmas Child?

The world’s largest Christmas project of its kind, Operation Christmas Child uses gift-filled shoeboxes to demonstrate God’s love in a tangible way to needy children around the world.
Since 1993, the Samaritan’s Purse project Operation Christmas Child has collected and delivered more than 100 million gift-filled shoeboxes to children in more than 100 countries. Celebrating its 20th anniversary, Operation Christmas Child expects to collect another 9.8 million shoebox gifts in 2013.

How does it work?

Samaritan's Purse

Individuals, families and groups fill empty shoeboxes with gifts of toys, school supplies, hygiene items and notes of encouragement. During National Collection Week, Nov. 18-25, 2013, Samaritan’s Purse will collect the gift-filled shoeboxes at more than 3,500 drop-off sites in all 50 states and Puerto Rico.

After the boxes are prepared for overseas shipment at eight major processing centers across the United States—Atlanta; Boone, N.C.; Charlotte; Dallas; Denver; Honolulu; Minneapolis; and Orange County, Calif.Samaritan’s Purse and its partners will deliver the gifts to children in more than 100 countries on six continents.

It's Time to Pack a Shoebox!

This Christmas, remind your family that “Christmas shines bright and true when you give the love God gave to you!”

Operation Christmas child is partnering with Si Robertson from Duck Commander this year to help spread the word.  He is also the narrator in the upcoming new VeggieTales movie: Merry Larry and the True Light of Christmas.

My family will be hosting a small shoe box packing party in a couple of weeks.  Look for a post after the event during National Collection Week on all our VeggieTales fun!
