This week we attended our very first ice show at the Baltimore Arena: Disney On Ice presents Let’s Celebrate! We were anticipating a night of Disney magic and were not disappointed. It truly was an evening of celebration, and it was even more special to experience it with my little girl who is Mickey Mouse's biggest fan!
We had the wonderful privilege of attending a media party before the show began at 7:30 PM. The room was decorated with bright colors and the tables had balloons and Disney on Ice memorabilia.
The highlight of the media party was meeting two very special guests: Mickey and Minnie Mouse. The Attic Baby was over the moon excited to see them in person for the very first time! My teenager is at that stage where he's too "cool" for photos with Disney characters I guess, but I did try (unsuccessfully) to get him to pose with them.
After some great food and goodies we headed to our seats for the show. The first half of the show was about an hour in length until the intermission.
There was a great range of celebrations throughout from birthdays, beach parties, love, cultural heritage with Chinese New Year and Mardis Gras, and Halloween to Christmas. The costumes were vibrant and it was exciting to see so many favorite characters (many that are new to my little one). Mickey & Minnie went through a lot of costume changes throughout the show as the sets changed.
Mickey and his pals celebrated an un-birthday party with Alice in Wonderland.
The Halloween celebration featured Disney Villains. I was a little worried that this might scare my little one, but she wasn't afraid of Jack Skellington and recognized Captain Hook.
The fairy godmother changed Minnie into a party dress before the princesses came out to celebrate with their princes. The Attic Baby was excited to see Ariel! We also saw my favorite princess Belle as well as Cinderella, Tiana, Mulan, Jasmine and Snow White.
One of the wonderful things about Disney is their appreciation for other cultures and heritages. Lilo & Stitch were featured during the Luau/Beach party. Stitch is one of my favorite characters and the fire show was really awesome to watch!
I loved seeing the beautiful lighting and graceful skating during the cherry blossom scene.
And the Mardis Gras dancing was a lot of fun! Minnie & Mickey have some moves.
I was grateful for an intermission at this point because we all needed a little stretch. This was little misses' bedtime so she was beginning to get tired and restless after all the excitement of the first half.
The highlight of the second half was when Toy Story came onto the ice. We would have liked to have them on the ice a bit more since they were toward the end and a crowd favorite.
Overall, the show was well balanced with characters for both boys and girls. (Even my teen admitted that he enjoyed some of the action.) The costumes, sets, beautiful music, quality of skating artistry, and memorable characters draw you in and make you smile. After all, you can't help but love Mickey Mouse. Thank you Feld Entertainment for making my little Mickey fan's day!
