Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey® presents DRAGONS has come to Baltimore this week.  My family had the opportunity to attend the show opening night.  It was an action-packed evening of incredible performances and amazing talent!

One of our favorite parts of the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey circus is the pre-show.  We were able to get down on the floor with the performers and see some of the animals up close.  They had stations where you could try on costumes, get your own clown nose, and even a bounce house!

We first visited the clowns, but the Attic Baby wasn't too certain about them.  She hid her face and didn't want to interact with them much, which I expected since she's never seen them up close before.

We then sat down to watch various performers in the ring.  It was great having a front row seat to watch the clowns, dancers, and the Shaolin Warriors (my son's favorite performers).

And of course, you can't go to the circus without trying on a clown nose!  They had a table full of them for any one who wanted them.

We weren't able to get over to the painting elephant, since there was a wall of people between the ring and us.  But we have seen the elephant paint before; it's pretty neat to watch up close!

After the pre-show, we went to find our seats.  We were located up in the highest level on the end.   We were unable to see the screens from that angle, so we asked if we could move down to empty seats where we had a bit of a better view.

The theme of DRAGONS was woven throughout the show, even into the funny spoofs of the clowns.  The Shaolin Warriors captured my teen's interest the most, while the music and animal performances had my two year old's attention.   She especially loved the elephants!   They really put a lot of thought into the show to make it really enjoyable and geared toward all ages.

I like that they give you an intermission so you can stretch your legs, take a bathroom break, or get a snack for your kids.  It definitely helps with little ones!

One of the highlights was seeing the Torres family on motorcycles in the Globe of Steel.  It's amazing to watch them fit eight motorcycles into that tight space and not crash into each other!

The other was seeing the female acrobats inside these round bubble-like eggs; they actually opened and did splits while inside them.   It was a bit difficult at the height we were at to get a good zoomed photo of them, but it was really amazing to watch!

The big dragon came out at the very end of the show during the wrap-up music.  I had been wondering if it might be scary for my daughter, but since we were at a distance and she was tired, it wasn't an issue.  It made a great finale for a very entertaining and exciting night!

  1. I used to love to go to these shows. I had forgotten how much fun they could be. The pictures look amazing. I will have to wait until they show up in my area.
