Inspired by a True Story
Dax Ryan Locke, born to Julie and Austin Locke on June 26, 2007, was diagnosed with AML M7, a rare form of leukemia, when he was 13 months old.
The Heart of Christmas is set in Washington, Illinois and at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, one of the world's premier centers for the research and treatment of pediatric cancer and other deadly diseases in children. Told in flashback from the perspective of Megan (Candace Cameron Bure), a successful businesswoman, wife and mother of two, the storyline unfolds when her commitment to faith and family is renewed after reading the blog of Julie Locke, (http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/daxlocke), the online journal that Julie kept after Dax was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML).
The Heart of Christmas, a GMC original film starring Jeanne Neilson and Candace Cameron Bure, is now available on DVD.

This movie wasn't what I expected. I have to admit it was very difficult for me to watch. My family has been touched by cancer many times, and to see a family with a child going through it just broke my heart. I think I went through an entire box of tissues throughout the movie.
This isn't your typical light-hearted Christmas movie. It is deeper than that and makes you realize just how precious life truly is. You'll want to hug your babies close and treasure every moment with them after watching it. And hopefully you'll walk away wanting to help support St. Jude Children's Hospital in whatever way you are able, be it through prayer or financial support.
It has a serious subject matter, so I would recommend you watch with older children who are able to understand and discuss it with you.

This is truly an amazing family story and you can't help but be touched by it.
