About The Movie "A Mile In His Shoes":
Only a miracle can help baseball coach Arthur “Murph” Murphy (Dean Cain) and his losing minor league baseball team. As Murph sets out to recruit new talent for the team, he stumbles upon Mickey (Luke Schroder), a young farmer with an incredible pitcher’s arm. However, Mickey’s parents are reluctant in allowing him to join the team because he has Asperger’s syndrome, a form of autism. Murph convinces Mickey’s parents that life in the minor league will benefit their unique son, but he doesn’t realize just how much his new recruit will help the team’s game and, more importantly, their spirit. Based on a true story, A Mile in His Shoes is an inspirational film that celebrates faith, determination and the power of friendship.
My Thoughts:
I am not a huge sports fan, but chose this movie because it sounded like an inspiring true story. And I am a big fan of true inspirational characters. This is a classic underdog story. The main character, Mickey, has Asperger's syndrome. He has a great pitching arm on the farm and is recruited to play baseball by "accident." Some of the guys on the team don't understand him, and one especially named Lefty, feels threatened by his ability. Mickey faces many challenges but learns about true friendship and is mentored by a great coach.
This is a family-friendly film that I wouldn't mind my son watching with me. It has great messages about friendship, how to deal with bullies, understanding differences, teamwork, determination, and faith. The plot is pretty predictable, but I enjoyed Dean Cain and Luke Schroder's acting abilities. Their characters were both likable and I had a lot of empathy for Mickey. I would recommend it for older children ages 11+ due to some of the older content (kissing, socializing at parties, etc).

What a great movie that seems like we can ALL watch together as a family and have a "movie night" and I like the fact that it features someone with Aspergers. As a parent of one with ADHD, my son likes movies that appeal to those that are quite the "mainstream"! Thanks for the giveaway!
