I Just Can't Take It Anymore! Summary from the publisher: Can a small slim book change your life? This one can! Pairing hilarious photos of children with beautifully simple words, I Just Can't Take it Anymore will cheer up even the most discouraged people. In a lighthearted yet profound way, Anthony DeStefano, author of the bestseller, A Travel Guide to Heaven, conveys the essence of the Judeo-Christian teaching on suffering, all the while making readers laugh out loud and sigh "Aww." At once straightforward and funny and yet deeply moving, the book depicts challenges we all face: “Messy” lives, feelings of loss, abandonment, frustration, and despair. Then, step by step, DeStefano gently nudges readers into seeing the wholepicture—life with all its beauties, joys, challenges and pleasures. If you know anyone who can use some encouraging words or just needs a reason to smile, I Just Can’t Take It Anymore! offers plenty of both. About Bestselling Christian Author – Anthony DeStefano
The bestselling author of A Travel Guide to Heaven (Doubleday, 2003), Ten Prayers God Always Says Yes To, (Doubleday, 2007), and The Invisible World (Doubleday, 2011), Anthony DeStefano has a diverse background in business and media. After attending Stuyvesant High School in New York City, he graduated summa cum laude from St. John’s University in Staten Island with a degree in Philosophy/Theology. He then started a successful chain of electronics retail stores in New York. During this time he also worked as a regular op-ed columnist for the Staten Island Advance.
In 2003, Anthony’s first book, A Travel Guide to Heaven, was published by Doubleday, as well as Random House Audio, Transworld Publishers in the United Kingdom and a host of other major publishing houses in Europe, Asia and South America. The book was a runaway bestseller and has been published in 16 different languages. Anthony has received many awards and honors from religious communities throughout the world. In 2002, he was given an honorary Doctorate from the Joint Academic Commission of the National Clergy Council and the Methodist Episcopal Church for “the advancement of Christian beliefs in modern culture.” The commission is made up of outstanding Evangelical, Orthodox and Protestant theologians and educators. Today, Anthony is a successful businessman and pro-life advocate, having worked closely with the Rev. Frank Pavone, national director of Priests for Life, for twenty years. He is also a Knight of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, a member of the National Religious Broadcasters Organization (NRB), the Royal Institute of Philosophy, in London, and the prestigious International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS), also based in the United Kingdom. An avid pilot, Anthony serves as a senior member of the US Air Force’s auxiliary Civil Air Patrol. He flies his own vintage, 1959 Cessna L19-E Bird-Dog, which was formerly owned by Judge William P. Clark, National Security Advisor under Ronald Reagan. In 2010, Anthony released two children’s books for WaterBrook/Multnomah, called: This Little Prayer of Mine, and Little Star. In February of 2012, Harvest House publishers released two new books by Anthony: I Just Can’t Take it Anymore, and the children’s Easter book, The Donkey that No One Could Ride. |
My Review/Thoughts:
This book arrived at my door with perfect timing. I've been a bit discouraged lately with my foot injury taking so long to heal. And feeling a bit sorry for myself. The message in this book is uplifting and encouraging. The author acknowledges that sometimes life isn't easy. Sometimes things can be hard (in it are examples of finances, job stress, personal relationships) and we don't understand why. But through our struggles we can hang onto the promise that God doesn't let go of us.
The pictures in this book made me laugh and smile. The author mixes humor with seriousness and reflection. If this book doesn't make you smile, then you must be having a VERY bad day. I think even the grumpiest of Scrooges would find something to smile about when reading this. It makes a great gift for that person in your life who needs a hug and a smile!
