Aloha Friday: Summer

blogging memes

Here is how Aloha Friday works from Kailani's blog An Island Life:

In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that we take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response.

My Question For You This Week: What do you think about people posting details about their vacations/trips on social networks? Do you think it's wise to tell people that you are not home?

  1. If I talk about a trip before I go, I am VERY vague about it. The only exception is me Tweeting some while I am there. Most of my trip posts are saved until I am back to put pictures with our memories.

  2. I try hard not to advertise that we are going out of town and talk about it after the fact! You never know who is reading your stuff!!

BTW Love your blog design! Now following : )

  3. I've had issues with stalkers and it isn't fun.

    Have a great Friday!

  4. Good question. Probably not a wise thing to do. But all our neighbors watch out for each other and most have guns. LOL

  5. I don't think it's a good idea...it advertises you are gone. I even question those who check in everywhere...why do you need to tell everyone where you are. Too scary!

  6. i don't mind posting vacay info to FB since my personal account there is pretty private plus when i talk about traveling its often just me traveling alone for work so the house is still occupied.

what i don't get is the location based SM like four square. why would i tell people i'm at target or panera? why would i want to read that about someone else?

nice blog btw. i'm following you now but not in a stalkery way lol.

  7. It's a stupid thing to do.
I don't tell any social network when I'm learning, nor while I'm gone and only when I get back do I update my social networks.

We have technology for everything but it will become our undoing if we doing use them wisely.

  8. I don't think it's wise. I only post if someone else will be at my house the whole time. Otherwise I wait until I am back to talk about it.

  9. I am not sure who all reads these things I normally post after I get back home which would be my advice to share after the trip come see me at http://shopannies.blogspot.com

  10. I think it depends. It's definitely dangerous if you have friends that you don't know well.
