Here is how Aloha Friday works from Kailani's blog An Island Life:
In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that we take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response.
My Question For You This Week: At what age would you leave your child home alone for a period of time?
Our kids are ages 17, 14, 12, and 10. Around the age of 12 or 13 is when I would feel okay leaving them home for short periods of time during the day.
ReplyDeleteI am not sure - I figure I will cross that bridge when I come to it.
ReplyDeleteMaybe between age 13 onward. It all depends on the level of maturity and their knowledge of what to do in case of emergency, ie. break in, fire, etc etc.
ReplyDeleteAloha! :)
We started when she was 14, now at 16 we can leave her longer and feel okay about it. Although she doesn't like it,lol.
ReplyDeleteMy Friday post-Got Plans? Hope you visit me and answer my question.
It really depends on the kid and their maturity level I think.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!

I don't know if I ever want to leave them on their own even just for a short period of time... but My kids are 4 and a baby. LOL
ReplyDeleteI think, when they start showing they are responsible and trustworthy.
My daughter is just about 13, and she has been left alone for an hour or two.

ReplyDeleteIt depends on the child, but usually from 12 onwards
ReplyDeleteIt depends on the age of the child. I was left home alone at 9 or 10. My sister wasn't left home alone til 14? lol
ReplyDeleteFor short periods of time, the age of 12 is about right. When they are older then longer time is fine
ReplyDelete12 or 13 - that's the age I was when I started babysitting the neighbor kids. :)

I am thinking when they are teenagers -- my daughter would be all right then, but my son may never be ready :-)

I think it depends on the child and how long your going to be gone. I know when I was growing up I was left alone a lot at a young age (8).
ReplyDeleteHmm, it depends on the child and how responsible they are. Mine are way too young at the moment (7 & 3), but I don't anticipate being able to do that until mid teens.
ReplyDeleteThanks for following me! I'm following you back!
