Aloha Friday: Bad Mommy Moment

blogging memes, writing prompts

Here is how Aloha Friday works from Kailani's blog An Island Life:

In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that we take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response.

I have a confession to make. I suffered from a Bad Mommy Moment the other day. I was trying to clip Baby A's little fingernails and I accidentally got the skin on her thumb. I felt so awful as I saw her little face scrunch up and cry and felt even worse when I saw the blood dripping out of her little finger. I felt like I deserved the Worst Mom of the Year award even though I knew it was an accident.

My Question For You This Week: What's one of your Bad Mommy moments?

  1. ::sigh:: I feel like it's been a bad mommy week. Yesterday I made my son cry (a couple of times) while berating him for ruining on of his toys and I just felt like a jerk by the time all was said and done. Sometimes being mommy stinks.

I've nicked my daughter twice trimming her nails and oohhhh it's a terrible feeling to know you've hurt them but so easy to do on such tiny little fingers!

  2. I did that once too, w/ the clippers. It just about destroys you.

My son has grown like there's no tomorrow. He shot up from 5'6 to just barely under 6' in something like 3 wks although it felt like it happened all in one night. @ the same time his feet grew from a 12 to a men's 14/15. We went & bought new sneakers & other shoes but completely forgot about soccer cleats. Then he started soccer camp. He came home the first day w/ bloody feet & cramped toes. I felt like the worst mom on the block! The worst thing was that we had to custom order his cleats & it took 4 wks.

  3. I don't have any kids yet, but I've had a quite a few Auntie moments.

  4. I'm not a mom...but you definitely shouldn't feel bad about an accident!!!!

  5. I had one of those nail clipping incidents when Princess Nagger was a baby, too - I cried as much as she did! :)

One of my funnier Bad Mommy Moments was when I sent her to school in Kindergarten with an empty lunch box - I thought I'd packed it, but apparently not. ;)

  6. My daughter's eleven, but last winter, she kept telling me her ear was bugging her, but I kept telling it was a cold, it would go away. You know. Finally she said she thought she should go to the doctor's. And of course she had an ear infection. A 10 year old shouldn't have to tell her mom she needs to see the doctor. I'm sure I've had other bad mommy moments, but that's the one that comes to mind.

  7. It's been a long mommy day and I feel like a monster.

If I don't stop screaming right now I"ll have a heart attack.

Can you believe it's my birthday?

  8. Ugh, this week I could have had a novel with some of those moments (it seems). I think the biggest was when I let go of my son's hand walking to the car on our icy driveway. Next thing I knew he was crying. He slipped behind me and hit his head and knee on the ice.

  9. Blaming my son for signing my husband's name on his conduct folder when he didn't. My husband is just a sloppy signer. I felt bad and had to apologize. If he doesn't get it signed daily he gets a mark.

  10. Don't feel bad...we have all done a few things that we feel horrible about. I once started closing the automatic rear car window on my son's arm!! It scared me to death!

  11. I'm not a mum to human babys only to a dog and i feel bad enough for shouting at him when he's been naughty!

  12. Countless things. We all have those moments. Don't let it get you down.

  13. A bad mommy moment is any moment I yell :(
