Aloha Friday: Daylight Savings

10/30/09
writing prompts, blogging prompts

Here is how Aloha Friday works from Kailani's blog An Island Life:

In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that we take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response.

Daylight Savings time often throws off my sleep schedule. It takes me a few weeks to get back to feeling "normal" again. And it definitely affects my son's sleep too. The only plus is that it isn't so dark when I wake up in the morning to get my son to school.

My Question for This Week: How do you feel about Daylight Savings time?

  1. The only thing that bothers me is that the neighboring state doesn't change times so half the year we're the same and half not. I always forget to think about it. So sometimes we drive over for lunch and it's not open for another hour....

  2. I like the idea of the sun rising earlier but, the sun setting at 4:30 kind of stinks.
    Have a great Friday!

  3. I am torn between it...It will be easier to get up during the winter, which will be nice, but Ihate it so dark so early. I also hate it when it turns back to this time in the spring. It totally discombobulates me! :)

  6. I really hate the time changing. I don't see why it's such a big deal to change it forward and back. Why can't they just leave it alone! Screws me up for days.

In my country they don't do the time changing.

  18. I live in Arizona and most of Arizona doesn't follow daylight savings. I am in Prescott and we don't follow it here. It drives me crazy because one of my jobs is producing a Monday morning radio interview program. A lot of the interviews are in other states, and I get all messed up once the times change. It drives me nutty.

  19. I am usually ok with this. But this year it has totally thrown me off and it is starting to be a pain!

  20. It really throws my kids off their schedules. The light in the morning is great, but it is SO dark in early evening. Not a big fan of this or when it is light until after 9 in the summer - too much extremes.

  21. I just hate getting up in the dark so when it shifts so I don't have to do that I'm happier!
