It's a family tradition to read the story of the first Christmas and watch our favorite holiday movies.  This year, we're excited about a new movie from Sony Pictures, The Star, in theaters this Friday, Nov. 17th, that gives a fresh take on the first Christmas.

In Sony Pictures Animation's The Star, a small but brave donkey named Bo (Steven Yeun) yearns for a life beyond his daily grind at the village mill. One day he finds the courage to break free, and finally goes on the adventure of his dreams. On his journey, he teams up with Ruth (Aidy Bryant), a loveable sheep who has lost her flock and Dave (Keegan-Michael Key), a dove with lofty aspirations. Along with three wisecracking camels (Oprah Winfrey, Tyler Perry, Tracy Morgan) and some eccentric stable animals, Bo and his new friends follow the Star and become unlikely heroes in the greatest story ever told – the first Christmas.

This all-star cast tells the Nativity story from the perspective of the animals that traveled with Joseph and Mary.  I just know my two girls are going to love these cute animals; it looks pretty humorous too!

The Star sounds like a great movie for children. I love that it is told through the eyes of the animals which makes it so adorable. Thanks for sharing a great review.

I collect Christmas movies and my whole family loves them. I especially love Christmas movies that teach about Jesus being born.
