When God Made You by Matthew Paul Turner #GodMadeYou #sponsored

8/9/17
I received a copy of When God Made You by Matthew Turner for review.  All opinions are my own.

Books are an addiction of mine that I have passed along to my children.  We have multiple shelves of books (I'm old school like that) ranging from picture books, to chapter books and non-fiction books.  Many of our favorite read-alouds are picture books, as they appeal to both my toddler and my six-year-old.

We have added a new favorite read-aloud to our book shelf that I know is going to be dearly loved by my girls called When God Made You by Matthew Paul Turner and illustrated by David Catrow.

About the Book:

YOU, you… God thinks about you.
God was thinking of you long before your debut.
From early on, children are looking to discover their place in the world and longing to understand how their personalities, traits, and talents fit in. Knowing that they are deeply loved and a unique creation in our big universe is certain to help them spread their wings and fly.
Written in playful, charming rhyme and brought to life with vivid, fantastical illustrations, young readers will be encouraged and excited to learn about their own special gifts and how they fit into God’s divine plan as they grow, explore, and begin creating for themselves.
‘Cause when God made YOU, somehow God knew
That the world needed someone exactly like you!

The message of When God Made You is so simple, but one that has such a large impact on a child's worldview and sense of self.  It clearly tells your child not only how deeply loved they are, but that they were planned by a loving creator exactly the way that they look, exactly who they are, and their exact abilities.  And they are encouraged to be confident in who they are, so elegantly phrased:

"So be YOU--fully you--

a show-stopping revue.  Live your life in full color, every tint, every hue."

It also emphasizes diversity, kindness, acceptance, and embracing our differences as being beautiful and a part of God's plan.

With each rhyme and flow of the text along with the whimsical illustrations, your child will be affirmed, uplifted, and inspired to pass along that love.  It's every thing I could ever want for my children.

When God Made You is a book that every parent should have on their book shelf.  I encourage you to pick up a copy and read it with your children; it will not only encourage them, but also will uplift and inspire you too.
