ZONDERkidz 2016 Holiday Book RoundUp #HolidayGiftGuide #ad #Giveaway #Giving

I received holiday books for review from ZONDERkidz.  All opinions are mine.

Do you have favorite Christmas traditions in your family?  We count down to Christmas each year with a chocolate Advent calendar that my kids love.  But there is also a fun tradition called 25 Days of Christmas books.    You simply purchase 25 holiday themed books and wrap them individually.  Then starting December 1st, your child opens a new book each day.  It not only gets kids excited about the holidays, but also about reading!

If you're looking for some book ideas for 25 Days of Christmas or for holiday gift giving, I have a Holiday Roundup of new children's books from ZONDERkidz you will want to check out:

1.  A Night of Great Joy by Mary Engelbreit

This picture book tells the story of the nativity through a performance of a children's Christmas pageant.  It features illustrations with child characters of many races and ethnicities and celebrates diversity. If you have been to a children's Christmas play, you will probably relate to this adorable story.  I love Mary Engelbreit's fun illustrations and I'm sure your children will too!

2.  Christmas Love Letters from God by Glenys Nellist          Illustrator: Rachel Clowes

This hardcover book has a collection of seven Bible stories that focus on Jesus' birth; from the prophecy of Isaiah to the visit of the wise men. There are flap envelopes with the love letters so your child can flip up each one to read how much God loves them.  The illustrations are beautiful with soft hues and truly celebrate the Reason for the Season.

3. Goodnight Manger by Laura Sassi Illustrator Jane Chapman

Parents will definitely relate to this story about how Mary and Joseph are trying to get baby Jesus to sleep in a noisy stable.  Can you imagine being in Mary's shoes?  All those sheep making noise (and the smell, oh my the smell)!  This adorable board book reminds me of other bedtime favorites that I have read with my children.  It has a simple rhyme and soft illustrations perfect for getting little ones sleepy!

4. The Berenstain Bears and the Christmas Angel by Mike Berenstain

We are huge fans of the Berenstain Bears series!  In this latest paperback book, Brother, Sister and Honey are trying to get out and make a snowbear.  Honey gets down in the snow and makes a snow angel, which sparks the idea that they should build a Christmas snow angel!  The bears get a lesson from Mama and Papa Bear about angels and their purpose and how it ties into Christmas.  It also has references of other angels found in the Bible.  I love the simple object lessons from the Berenstain Bears!

6. Ready, Set, Find Christmas!

This board book helps little ones learn the Christmas story with fun seek and find objects on each page.  It has easy tabs for little hands to turn the pages and is a great size for toddlers.  My two-year-old loved finding the objects, animals, and Mary and Joseph on their journey to Bethlehem.  Her favorite scene was the manger where Jesus was born and making all of the animal noises.  It has beautiful illustrations and very simple text that is easy to understand.

Recommended Ages: babies to age 3
Retail Price: $8.99

7.  A Royal Christmas to Remember by Jeanna Young and Jacqueline Johnson Illustrator: Omar Aranda

This is the latest title in the Princess Parables series.  On Christmas Eve,  Princesses Joy, Grace, Faith, Charity and Hope face bandits that have crashed into the castle after leading the King on a wild goose chase.  They need rescuing and learn some valuable lessons about the true meaning of Christmas and helping others.  My five-year-old loved this Christmas adventure and has already asked to read the other books in the series.

I think my favorite is the book, A Royal Christmas to Remember by Jeanna Young and Jacqueline Johnson Illustrator: Omar Aranda. My great niece is obsessed with princesses and this can show her that there are more than the Disney princesses out there :)
