Grandparents are a special part of my kids' lives. Neither set of grandparents live close by us, so we treasure their visits and keep connected through Skype, Facebook, and texts.
My girls call their dad's parents Nana & Papa, so when I was asked to review The Adventures of Camp Nana Papa, it seemed like a natural fit.
This hardback book by Donnie Cranfill was inspired by his relationship with his own "Grandma." The first in a series, it features two children, Nick & Sarah, (and their friend Flash the Firefly) enjoying a fun weekend with their grandparents at what they call "Camp Nana Papa." Why is it called Camp Nana Papa? Well, you'll have to read the book to find out!
The children make wonderful memories with their grandparents such as catching fireflies, camping, fishing, swimming and visiting the zoo. Flash the firefly goes along with them and makes their adventures even more magical!
The 34 page book is just the right length to keep my preschooler's attention and my toddler loves the soft and appealing illustrations. Both girls love the adorable firefly character!
The end of the book includes 6 activity pages for kids to make the story personal. They can draw pictures about their favorite things to do with their own grandparents and list what they are looking forward to on their next visit.
As we are reading, my girls take turns cuddling up with their very own plush Flash! His fabric is incredibly soft, and he lights up when you push the button on his leg. They both like to turn off the lights and watch the firefly's glow. It's really adorable and makes a great friend for my oldest at bedtime!
We really love The Adventures of Camp Nana Papa and look forward to reading the rest of the series!
