VeggieTales Noah's Ark Preschool Learning Activities @familychristian #sponsored #FCBlogger

1/30/15
I received a VeggieTales Noah's Ark screener for review purposes as a Family Christian Blogger.  No other compensation was received and all Veggie Tales love expressed is my own.

One of the best things about the VeggieTales show is that it provides excellent learning opportunities for young children.  Not only do they teach Biblical and life principles, but they also tie into academic skills for preschoolers.
Noah's Ark DVD Presale
We've read the story of Noah in my daughter's toddler Bible several times so she's familiar with it.  When she saw the new VeggieTales Noah's Ark screener, she couldn't wait to watch!

VeggieTales Noah's Ark tells the story of Noah in funny fashion as only the veggies can do.  Sure, the animals are cute and the veggies are funny  {one of my favorite pop references was the Titanic theme "My Heart will Go On"}. But there are also great life lessons about trust, obedience, and dealing with hard times.  It will open great conversations with your little ones!

AK and I talked about what it means to be obedient and how she could be obedient at home.  The concept is a big one for a four year old who's just learning about God, but she seemed to understand that God wants us to listen and do what he asks because he knows what's best for us.  {And an important part of that is listening to what our parents ask us to do; something we are constantly dealing with as she is very strong-willed}.  We also talked about trust and how Noah trusted God and so should we.

Extension Activities:

It also is a great opportunity for preschoolers to do extension activities.

VeggieTales Noah's Ark

I printed out some VeggieTales Noah's Ark Coloring Pages from the website for her after we watched the screener{there will probably be more activities soon as the DVD releases}.

Then we did this fun Noah's Ark Animal Cracker Craft from DLTK using things we already had around the house.

Noah's Ark VeggieTales

Supplies:

Blue Construction Paper
Noah's Ark Template
Cotton Balls
Glue
Animal Crackers
Scissors
Brown Crayon
{toothbrush and blue paint to make rain; we left this part out as we didn't have an old toothbrush}

VeggieTales Noah's Ark activities
The craft was very easy.  First we cut out the ark and had her color it brown.  Then she glued it onto the construction paper (two sheets taped together).  The cotton balls were glued down in the sky and then the animal crackers were glued onto the ark.  She really enjoyed this simple project and it reinforced the lesson.  {It was also a fun snack!}

preschooler letter N tracing worksheetFinally, we worked on the N is for Noah Letter Tracing Worksheet.  I am trying to develop her tracing skills and letter recognition.  The letter recognition is going much quicker than the tracing but we are working on fine motor skills and proper crayon/pencil grip.

Here's a tip:  you can print this out and put it inside a clear plastic sheet protector and have your child use a white board erasable marker and can use it over and over again!

How fun! Love the extra ideas. My kids have been drawing out the giant squid, family tree of characters, and a chart with the jobs the veggies do on the ark! :)
