Peter Rabbit Organics Review and Giveaway

8/25/11

About the company...

"We are also is a small, privately-owned company. We are passionate about what we do and have a lot of fun working together! We started Peter Rabbit Organics for the simple reason that we found it hard to find healthy snacks with no added salt, sugar or artificial ingredients. We wanted to create a product that was healthy, delicious, convenient and suitable for both you and your little ones. We never cut corners and ensure that whatever we make gets a full thumbs up from all the team and our special taste testers before it goes into the stores.

All our products are produced in Oregon, USA and where possible we use local ingredients sourced from within the US."

I have made it a priority to feed my baby girl organics, despite the stretch in budget.  I want her to have quality food that does not have any additives or fillers and will start her off on the right foot when it comes to liking fresh fruits and veggies.  (Especially since there are some very picky veggie and fruit eaters in my house)

Peter Rabbit Organics sent me the following six flavors:

  • Strawberry and Banana
  • Apple and Grape
  • Mango, Banana and Orange
  • Sweet Potato, Corn and Apple
  • Carrot, Squash and Apple
  •  Pea, Spinach and Apple

The Attic Baby is not a super picky eater, but she definitely is particular when it comes to greens.  I thought the combo of pea, spinach and apple would give me the usual reaction of dislike when she tried it:  a yuck face, blowing of a raspberry, and refusal to open her mouth.
Surprisingly, she didn't do any of those things!  She ate it and made her usual happy noises while eating.  I tried this combo myself in disbelief.  (After all, I hate spinach and figured that would be the case with baby girl)  It tasted more like apples with a little greens mixed in.  I was pleasantly surprised!

She loved all of the other fruit & veggie combos too, especially the ones with sweet potatoes (that is her favorite).  I had to be careful with how much bananas she ate, since bananas tend to unsettle her stomach and cause some not so fun bathroom issues (I'll spare you the details).

Why I Like Peter Rabbit Organics:

*all organic
*contain 100% fruit and veg, and never have added sugar or anything artificial.
*You won’t have to read the label – the fruit you see on the front is what’s inside!
*high in vitamin C
*1.5-2 grams of fiber
*don’t require refrigeration before eating
* BPA-free resealable pouches
*convenient, squeezy pouch (with a no-choke cap)
*squeeze out what you need and put the rest in the fridge to use later (great for younger babies who won't eat a whole pouch in one sitting)

The only down-side for me is that the nearest location to buy it is a Whole Foods store, which tends to be a lot more expensive than buying it at a department store.

Where to Buy:

Whole Foods Markets, Publix and Albertsons, and natural food stores, and in all Buy Buy Baby stores

It is also available online at  Amazon.comDiapers.comBabiesRUs.com and Spud.com.

I have seen similar products in the grocery store that were only offered in apple and apple cinnamon. I love that these incorporate veggies! I wonder if they're just as healthy & tastey to adults?
