Top Ten Thursday: My Favorite Books

Top Ten Thursday Button

One of the things I love the most is books! I absolutely adore them. They have been special friends ever since I was little and my mom would read Dr. Seuss. She instilled in me a love of reading that has never lessened.

It's so hard to narrow down my favorite books to just ten. I have read SO many over the years! So this list is just a tiny selection of some of my favorite books:

1. Pride & Prejudice by Jane Austen; I LOVE LOVE LOVE Jane Austen's writing! And this is my all time favorite of the six.

2. Great Expectations by Charles Dickens; I read this around 7th grade and have always loved the story. It's full of danger, love, and longing. Mr. Dickens knows how to weave a beautiful story!

3. A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens; I love this classic Christmas tale! My favorite movie adaptation is the Muppet Christmas Carol. Miss Piggy is my favorite Muppet and it's so fun to see her with 2 piggy daughters!

4. Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte; Nothing like a gothic story to cozy up with on a cold night!

5. Sunset by Karen Kingsbury; Karen Kingsbury's Baxter family series is one of the best series I have ever read. This last book made me cry buckets. You can't read one of her books without a box of tissues by your side!

6. Just Jane by Nancy Moser; This is a fiction book about Jane Austen's life and I loved her take on how Jane became an amazing writer.

7. Sisters Ink by Rebeca Seitz; I love this series about 4 sisters, all adopted, talk about their lives over the scrapbook table.

8. Ransome's Honor by Kaye Dacus; This is the first in the Ransome Trilogy. It reminds me a lot of Jane Austen; I just love the Regency period!

9. A Walk With Jane by Lori Smith; Lori traveled to England to visit places that Jane Austen would have seen during her lifetime. I loved reading about all the places that I want to travel to some day!

10. Reconstructing Natalie by Laura Jensen Walker; This is such a poignant story about one woman's fight with breast cancer. It reminded me a lot of my half-sister Laura who passed away after she fought the disease for several years.

Those are just some of the books on my bookshelf that I love. What do you have on your shelf?

So hard for me to narrow down my list. I haven't read the Kingsbury that is on your list, but I've read others and loved them.

You are a woman after my own heart. I've read the first four on your list years ago. Absolutely love them all.

I am currently reading a series by Stephanie Barron. The premise is supposedly she's "discovered" some journals of Jane Austen recording some mysterious events in her life and Jane investigates etc. It is actually very well written, engaging dialogue and very much how Jane writes. Worth checking out if you haven't already. :)
